Сегодня рассмотрим еще несколько проектов субмарин XIX века. И первой в списке будет подводная лодка конструкции российского военного инженера генерал-адъютанта К. А. Шильдер (1785 — 1854 гг.).
Карл Андреевич Шильдер был талантливым инженером императорской армии, который изобрел ряд разборных канатных мостов, разработал способы электрического воспламенения пороховых ракет и фугасов, буровое устройство для подземных работ, систему обороны крепостей с помощью ракет, взрывной способ прокладки траншей и много другое. Погиб Карл Андреевич на 70-м году жизни при осаде турецкой крепости Силистрия.
В 1834 г. Шильдер создал гальваническую подводную мину, принятую в 1836 г. на вооружение. Удачи создании электрозапалов привели его к мысли о превращении мины в двигающийся снаряд.
Из докладной записки военному министру:
«Чтобы сделать сей способ грозным орудием для неприятельского флота, необходимо было найти верное средство к подводу мин под неприятельские корабли, стоящие на якоре, или к уловлению их на ходу.
Казалось, что устроение подводной лодки и усовершенствование плавания с оною — может решить сию задачу — и я немедленно занялся способами к достижению сей цели».
В 1834 г. под руководством Карла Андреевича в Санкт-Петербурге на Александровском литейном и механическом заводе в период с марта по май была создана субмарина.

Длина ручки в собранном виде: 215 мм. Без колпачка — 160 мм. Колпачок — 105 мм.
